tina fey is going to grace the march vogue cover! she’s as smart and sassy as they come. girl crush. there is a distinct possibility I may name my first child after her (fey, or maybe just straight-up tinafey as her first name). meanwhile, a rare north carolina snowfall. eight hours since I first looked out the union window and saw that it was snowing—a boy walking past waved his hands at me and mouthed “SNOW!” to me in a way that conveyed that all-capital-letters spelling, complete with an exclamation mark—eight hours later, the snow is still constant. the parking lot, at first only embriodered, now has a quilt several inches deep. it’s every bit of joy, this first college snowfall and the promise of saturday morning. outside the window, two boys with heavy leather jackets and beards walk by. where do these boys come from and where are they walking at 3:09AM? I watch as they walk down the sidewalk, walking, walking, and finally, a gigantic slide culminating in swiping an impromptu snowball from the hood of a jeep, throwing, laughter. were I to be freudian, I suppose this might be an adept metaphor for one of my more inane fears in life—being on one side of antique window while bearded boys are having a snowball fight on the other. |
